The
PS module has been divided into two projects. The management project is an MDI application
similar to other AFD modules. It contains the POS system parameters, posting option, and
reports. It can also broadcast messages to the CA$HIER module. The CA$HIER module is the
application that runs on the point-of-sale stations. This application is used by the
cashiers to record sales and balance their cash drawers at the end of their shift.
CA$HIER is a single form SDI application that supports wedge bar code readers, a
receipt and invoice printer and a cash drawer. Support is forthcoming for credit card
verification using a third-party DLL/OCX. Either user-generated or preprinted barcodes can
be used, or a combination of both. A separate field for the UPC number means that when not
scanning, a shorter item number may be entered directly. CA$HIER will handle an unlimited
number of stores with up to one hundred registers per store. Payments for each transaction
can split into different types as well. (i.e. part in cash, credit card) View history of
customer transactions, place transactions on hold. Print to either a receipt printer (cash
transactions) or to an invoice printer. (charge sales)
Companies may choose to collect customer information or not. If they do, a
customer may be looked up by their telephone number or via a
pick list. If this option is
selected, cashiers may also accept payment via in-house charge, if the latter option is
selected. If no customer information is desired, the customer panel disappears completely.
The data files are designed for ease of consolidation to a home office for
posting to GL and AR. Detail may be retained for use in future reports or discarded after
posting.
The CA$HIER module supports a wedge scanner. . Items may be scanned repeatedly
with no keyboard input. Each item in the item table may be associated with a UPC code.
Scan or enter an item already entered and it will increase the quantity.
Installation
The CA$HIER module is not called from AFD's main menu as the other modules are. (Except for the demo) Because of the nature of the application, it
would normally be set up to start automatically when Windows starts and will generally be
the only application running on those machines. See Download Demo
for AFDPS.ZIP for the demo of this exciting new module.
